I think this would be a good place to start as Tommy is one of the past weightlifters that our current crop of weightlifters would easily recognise.

Summary of Tommy's lifting:

International Competitions Tommy was selected to lift for Ireland in the 1966 World Championships in Berlin (picture beneath) and has also represented Ireland in the 1960 Olympics held in Rome.

Tommy Hayden, more than just a lifter:
Tommy's enthusiasm for weightlifting did not stop when he finished competing. Tommy has been involved in both coaching and administrative duties with the Irish Weightlifting Association.

Irish Weightlifting Coach: From the 199*-200* Tommy Hayden has been instrumental in the coaching of Irish weightlifters. During this time he has helped number of Irish lifters to international level, been involved with setting up training abroad both in Bulgaria and Poland and has also run Irish Squad Training Sessions.

Hercules Weightlifting Club: Remarkably Tommy has been a member of the Hercules Weightlifting Club since early 1946 and has seen the club develop and move location throughout this period. His enthusiasm for promoting weightlifting in Ireland, particularly in the Dublin area can be demonstrated by the number of online newspaper articles that Tommy has been involved in to promote the Hercules club and weightlifting.
