High time I said hello too...

Name: Gillian Roddie
Club: Hercules Club Dublin
Weightclass: 75kg
Training pbs: 50/65
Comp pbs: 49/64

I've been weightlifting since September '08 under the watchful eye of Harry Leech and alongside Sami, Barry, Laura and Roy in Hercs. In a previous life I was a powerlifter and competed in the IDFPA Nationals and Worlds in 2007/2008 but I've since seen the light and I'm hoping for some nice big weightlifting numbers over the course of the next few years!

Heh, that's a new one, I like it!

Dubious indeed, but considering the other female lifter in the club is affectionately called "Matt" I think I'll run with it ... Razz

True enough Pete, I was trying to be creative but ended up using Dave Draper's nickname (anyone else old enough to remember him?) Maybe I'll re-think it!

And Gill, as I have to keep telling Laura, it's mini-Matt! See you tomorrow, hope all is well after Saturday's madness!

Bad and all as it is, it is strangely helpful before a tough set to visualize myself actually being Matthias Steiner Smile

The Blonde Bomber is probably a better one all round though, I'd run with that one Gill!

Dave Draper was very fond of his front squats so maybe not the worst nickname for a weightlifter. Although I think he used the crossed-forearms style.
