It has become apparant from a few members that people are unaware of the different funding bodies and the grants they offer to either athletes or the clubs they train in.

Hopefully over the next year we can develop this section to contain as comprehensive a list as possible of places to try and obtain funding from for interested parties either North or South of the border.

Also for the development of Irish lifting if anyone knows of a good funding avenue please communicate through the forum so other lifters can also try.

If we could try and get:

1. The name of the funding body
2. Name of the grant
3. Deadlines
4. Possible criteria/eligibility issues
5. Possible web address

Also if there is any literature to download we can try and get it put as well (pdf files are preferred)

I recently spoke to the woman in charge of funding for the connaght area in relation to funding equipment after i downloaded some stuff to try and get funding for a bar she informed me that all money for this year was given out for this year and that we were to apply for next year and that it may be advertised , and would certainly have the submission dates up on their website . I think peter durcan mentioned that there was a 61% success rate for funding so i thought maybe if each and every club could apply seperatly for these grants as a community based project some of us may succeed in getting the funding for the equipment which we want to have and may be able to supply those who dont succeed in recievig funding, even if in total , you got maybe ten bars and some bumper plates between us , there would at least be the chance of spreading that out to clubs who have nothing. Question
