Rules
-5RM Back squat to full depth (thighs breaking parallel)
-Supervised or approved by video
-Post a weight in next few weeks, biggest improvement come xmas wins.
-Mystery Prize to the winner

Pete Stewart came up with the idea and the popularity has grown. Post your scores here and I'll keep them up-to-date on golift.blogspot.com.

Also running a jerk challenge in my gym. Number of Jerks at Bodyweight or 100kg (depending on ability). Post these scores too. More competition the better.

Good luck Robbie

Barry has chucked up 9 jerks at 100kg. The boys are giving it a blast in Limerick this weekend so could be some impressive scores.
I'm expecting the Bangor boys to front it up for NI. I got 12 reps at 90kg on Monday. Set it up to the ton next week. McCoy better be down to 105kg of brut muscle or the jerks are going to be hell for the big fella.
Cheers Robbie

G and neil will be attempting this again as there is plenty left in the tank, especially for Neil.

Hi Robbie,

Great Idea on the 5rm squat nd max jerks at bodyweight!!!

Possibly we should organise an un-offical comp for this show down at xmas??? let me know what you think???

My current 5rm max is at 140kg but that I'll be smashing that come xmas time!!!!!

Sami

Pete Stewart is the man with the plan. Plus we are putting together a xmas social comp around 19th/20th Dec (Pete will be home) but venue is a struggle as we were thinking of Mid-Ulster sports arena (only 2 platforms).

Plan for social comp is snatch and CJ plus anyone who wants to bang out the 5RM BS for the show or jerks, then go for it. Would you Dubs be interested?

Got a lot of non-lifters involved in 5RM BS at our gym, which is great. 140 is kicking my ass all over the gym for an 85kg lifter. i got to grow some quads. Cheers

Hi Robbie,

Yes we defo would be up for coming up!!!!

If you guys are struggling to get a venue up north, I can have one for free in dublin with 3 platforms and there's no restriction on what time we would have to leave either.

You competing in NI Open??

that could be a plan Sami. Need 3 platforms but as it is for Pete Stewart I would like to run it by him. I am struggling to lift or the moment with nerve damage in my arm. Stupidly still trying to lift but realised today it ain't working. No overhead movements for a week or 2 so I am not hopeful about the NI Open. Thats why I am dying for a comp at xmas.

Whats your and Barry's aim for the 5RM squat come xmas?

Its for everyone, maybe it will become a nice informal end of year Christmas bash.

I am just looking forward to training with fellow lifters so asked a few folk if they wanted to meet up. Credit where credit is due, Robbie suggested making it an formal comp, has been the one emailing folk and was looking into the Craigavon facility.

If there are plenty of folk wanting to come maybe moving to Sami's venue would be appropriate.

Pete
I don't really care where we go but the more lifters the better in my eyes. Id say there may be about a dozen lifters so would need 3 platforms.

Lets get back to the challenges - Aaron and Pete 5RM? Pete, I'm expecting you to beat G's 155 because he'll be in eveyday this week till its beaten.
