Just getting caught up on the latest from the forum....

As part of my training, last week was 90% for a set of 5 and 2 sets of 3,

chalk me up for 153kg for 5 (plus a sneaky extra few on the side) on the back squat at 70kg BWT ... with a strong suspicion there is more there

haven't tried 70kg jerk reps yet, may just give it a go this week if i'm not blown out by whats in store

would love to see a few more totals posted

look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks

.... just thinking, are there any guidelines about this jerk competition?

In front or behind neck?
Can the weights be lowered or is it all up to the lifter?

any thoughts...

Lifters have to jerks (can be JBN) but if your an experienced lifter then its got to be 100kg. Presses don't count obviously and no assistance or racking. If anyone wants to add anything else then feel free.

Best Jerks at present Mr. 'Hillbilly' P Stewart - 10 x 100kg
Some impressive Back Squats coming in-
Neil 153
Pete 156
G 155
Monster McCoy?
Trevor B?
Aaron?
James?
Neil A 120
Robbie 130
Sami 140 (by the way, Im aiming to catch you on these Sami or at least try to)
And Many more....

Jerks from behind the neck are far easier. Why are they being allowed alongside regular jerks?

Gents,

It started out as an email challenge among 4 or 5 of us along with members of Robbie's gym and since both Trevor Coen and I both have injuries meaning we cant rack a bar for cleans or jerks, inclusion of jerks behind neck meant we could post a number.

It was supposed to be a bit of light hearted fun which didnt end up needing a list of guidelines etc and which would also allow the inclusion of regular gym members as well.

I am unfortunately on JBNs too due to injury. got 12 x 90kg. We use these challenges to tempt people into weightlifting movements. Got a few young guys interested which is always positive. This is the light hearted challenge and the 5RM BS is the one Im taking seriously. Time to get the game face on.

Aaron
120kg 5RM. Good man. This is perfect for you. Get the sqaut strength up to 150 for 5 reps and the 110kg snatch will be flying up for fun. Great effort.
How is James looking for 5RM and I still haven't heard a thing from McCoy or Trevor?

Well gents back to the grind tomorrow then, don't mind the rules, just wanting to know how much cheating i could get away with Wink

Anyway, will try and coax the guys up north into the 5rm tomorrow and post the scores... It's just a pity theres no % of squat to snatch here or methinks Aaron would be winning hands down.

Stay posted and there should be some good scores to follow....

looking forward to seeing Neil do 70kg x 80 reps. Smile I will post my measily squats tomorrow. I have had a touch of flu. Body weight down from 97 to 88 so I might get a couple of jerks in.

Well as promised, tonight was a very entertaining night.

On the 5RM back squat challenge James took a staggering two sequential stunner.

120kg for 5 then as a two finger salute in Aarons direction
123kg for 5, just because he could, there is definately going to be an upset come Christmas.

The rest of us mortals took on the 100kg or bodyweight Jerks, and on tallying the results .....

Stu - 3 reps@65kg bodyweight - A great effort considering he's only got going with training again
Matthew (monster) McCoy - a very good 6 reps @ 100kg
Trevor Boyle - 7 @ 85kg bodyweight

and a bloody hard 12 @ 100kg for myself

Only Just Aaron to go on the Jerks, and the rest of the lads on the back squats now.

James 123kg is stunning. He has plenty more to come over the next 2 months once the Open is over. Aaron and myself have to be careful we don't get shown up badly by the young lad. Got to try and beat him in something.

Love the 6 reps by McCoy and 12 by Neil. They are great efforts lads which are bloody tough but it feels great when its all done.

I will get all the results together over the weekend and then we all got to improve on those scores over the next few months. Xmas comp seems to be very popular. Good time to get newbies involved as the craic will be almighty.

Sami, what about a venue with 3 platforms? Is that Donnybrook?
Anyone got connections to get into UUJ, SINI? I know a few people there.
